THK Introduces High Accuracy, High-Speed Type KLM Actuator
with Linear Motor
 Schaumburg, IL – THK’s Type KLM Actuator achieves
extreme accuracy through the incorporation of an optic linear
encoder and linear motor. Direct drive and fully closed control
results in positioning accuracy of 10/500 mm µm and
positioning repeatability of +/- 0.3 µm. The Type KLM
obtains these accuracies while operating at speeds of up
to 2.0 m/sec., and with accelerations reaching 4.7 G.
The KLM is designed for high speed, high accuracy and long-term
maintenance free operation. Based on the THK successful SKR
actuator, the KLM is designed with a linear motor. Both rigid
and compact, Type KLM is interchangeable with THK’s
Type SKR Actuator. A THK Caged Ball™ LM Guide offers
the Type KLM high accuracy and high-speed capability. Patented
THK Caged Technology employs a synthetic resin cage with
a patented curvature that cradles each ball and separates
it from the next. The spaces between the rolling elements
retain grease and act as a lubrication system for long-term,
maintenance-free operation. Caged Technology benefits also
include smooth movement, low noise and low dust generation.
The overwhelming success of THK’s caged technology has
propelled the expansion of this superior technology throughout
the product line. THK is also expanding their product offering
to include larger and smaller sizes as well as new materials
and technology to achieve superior results in the most demanding
applications
